Payroll Deduction FAQ
Appointed faculty and staff of the University of Arkansas can utilize payroll deduction to purchase technology from the University of Arkansas Computer Store & Service Center. If you are a twelve month emplyee you may select up to eight deductable payment options for a $250.00 up to a $3,000.00 purchase. If you are a nine month employee you may select the number of deductions equal to the number of months left in your appointment until the end of the academic year. You may purchase computers, printers, software, and peripherals using payroll deduction as a payment option.

- Q: How do I take advantage of this program?
- A: To place your order and take advantage of payroll deduction visit us today on the 2nd floor of the Arkansas Union, or call us at 479-575-5414, or email us at comstore@uark.edu. Bring your University ID.
- Q: Is this a charge program?
- A: No, this is a onetime purchase. Once you pay off the deduction you may request another one.
- Q: Who is eligible for payroll deduction?
- A: Appointed faculty and staff of the University of Arkansas are eligible for the payroll deduction program.
- Q: What is the minimum amount I can payroll deduct?
- A: $250.00 is the minimum amount you can payroll deduct.
- Q: What is the maximum amount I can payroll deduct?
- A: $3,000.00 is the maximum amount you can payroll deduct.
- Q: What down payment is required?
- A: None, unless your purchase exceeds the maximum deduction allowed of $3,000.
- Q: When can I take my order home?
- A: Any products that are in stock can be billed and taken the same day of payroll deduction approval. Special order products can be taken as soon as the products arrive and the customer arrives with their University ID.
- Q: Can I make additional payments for my payroll deduction in the store?
- A: No.
- Q: Can I pay half of my purchase in cash, credit or check and payroll deduction the remainder?
- A: Yes.
- Q: Is this a post-tax deduction?
- A: Yes.
- Q: Can I payroll deduct the taxes associated with my order?
- A: Yes.
- Q: Can I do more than one payroll deduction at a time?
- A: No, you must complete the payroll deduction payoff based on your agreement prior to initiating a request for another payroll deduction.
- Q: When will my payroll deduction begin?
- A: If your application is processed prior to the 18th of the month your first deduction should occur in the same month as your request. If your application is processed on or after the 18th of the month your first deduction should occur the month after your request.
- Q: Will my deductions begin if I do not have my products?
- A: Yes, your payroll deduction will begin even if you are waiting on a backordered product.
- Q: How can you deduct the same amount every month?
- A: We can't, unless your order is perfectly divisible, otherwise your deductions may be a penny or two different in the last months of your deduction options.
- Q: Will I be charged any interest or fees?
- A: No, this is not a loan or a charge program. You will be charged only the amount of purchase and taxes.
- Q: What can I order?
- A: Any product the computer store or service center has in stock or can order.
- Q: Can I upgrade or repair my current computer in the Service Center with my payroll deduction?
- A: Yes.
- Q: I know I can afford to payroll deduct the full $3,000 maximum, but I haven’t decided everything I want to buy. Can I payroll deduct for the full $3,000 but order less and come in later for more items?
- A: No, the purchase decision must be finalized prior to the processing of the payroll deduction form.
- Q: How quickly can I get my payroll deduction approved?
- A: If you fill out the required form Monday through Friday between 8:00a.m. and 4:30 p.m. it will be processed within about ten minutes, after hour requests will be processed the next business day.
- Q: Can I pay my payroll deduction off early?
- A: Yes, but the Computer Store management will have to contact payroll to confirm the balance due prior to processing your STOP/payoff request.
- Q: What if I still owe on my payroll deduction and I leave the University?
- A: The amount due will be deducted from your final pay check.
