Class Specific Technology Requirements
We have obtained technology requirements and recommendations from the faculty of the following departmental programs and classes. This page will be updated each semester with updated information from the faculty. If you have any questions regarding the following recommendations please contact us. This page is not intended to be a complete set of requirements for any particular class, only the recommended technology items.

MBA and MIS Program: Walton College of Business
- Term: Fall 2011
- Group: All MBA and MIS students
Incoming MBA and MIS students are required to obtain a laptop before entering the program. You are also recommended to get Microsoft Office 2010 Professional. The student license can be purchased through us for $89.99. For Macs, Office Professional will only work if you run Windows using BootCamp or a virtual machine program like Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion. Microsoft Office 2010 for Mac is available for $79.99, but does not include Microsoft Access for databases. Laptop and software recommended specs are listed below:
- Processor: 2GHz or better
- Memory: 2GB or more; For Macs running Parallels or VMWare Fusion - 4GB or more
- Hard Drive: 120GB or larger
- Wireless: 802.11b/g/n
- Ethernet: 10/100 Mbps or better recommended
- Backup: DVD±RW Drive and/or a flash drive (2GB minimum) are recommended for backups and assignment submission
- Microsoft Windows 7 or Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.x) or Lion (10.7.x) with all updates applied
- Microsoft Office 2010 Professional or Office 2011 for Mac recommended
- UA version of Symantec AntiVirus (NOT recommended for Macs). Download from UITS

Fay Jones School of Architecture: 2nd Year Undergraduate Students

- Group: All 2nd year architecture students
Architecture students will need to purchase a computer capable of running computer aided drafting (CAD) programs, such as AutoCad Architectural Desktop and AutoDesk Viz as well as design program suites such as Adobe Design Standard. The Architecture department has recommendations for both laptop and desktop configurations, but this is a quick run down of what students should look for in a computer:
- Processor: 2GHz dual-core Intel or AMD or better. We recommend an Intel i5 or i7
- Storage:
- 320GB hard drive or larger. We recommend 500GB to 1TB.
- A DVD±RW or Blu-ray drive is recommended.
- 4GB flash drive or larger.
- Memory: At least 4GB of RAM.
- Graphics:
- Minimum of 512MB dedicated video memory.
- An external monitor with a minimum resolution of 1920x1080px is recommended for a laptop or desktop.
- Wireless adapter: A wireless internet adapter is REQUIRED for Field House studios. We recommend Wireless N.
- Operating System: Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate; Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.x) or Lion (10.7.x)
